Crowd of PeoplePEOPLE

I would guess that for most of us the main happiness and misery of life comes from other people. There are other causes, of course, but we are more likely to be angry with a person than a thing, to love a person than a thing and to grieve over a loss of a person than a thing. And yet people are more complex, changeable and uncontrollable than most things.

Read any biography and you will find in it a mix of good and bad people. A life in which all relationships are perfect can exist, I suspect, only in fiction. I am no different. I have had problems of my own as well as seeing into other people’s problems. I feel that if I had known as a young man what I know now I could have done a lot better – don’t we all!

When relationships are going well - and the majority are, I am sure, quite satisfactory most of the time - then they are a great source of comfort, support and happiness. But when they go wrong we often find ourselves lost and uncertain. Via the links below you have a chance to see just a few of the issues that can arise. If you feel a need to talk things over or ask for advice in any of these areas, or more, then you will know that you will not be the first person I have helped to cope.
