SELF
There are very many things that are important to each of us that are
special or personal, and do not depend on what we do for a living or
even or the people we are close to. Our tastes and inclinations; our
self-image and self-esteem: our past or our dreams of the future:
these are just some of the things that are central to us as
individuals.
But there is no reason why such things should not clash with each
other or become out of date, or in some other way feel uncomfortable.
Those close to us will often advise on personal matters, but their
very closeness can make it hard to give an unbiased opinion.
Furthermore most people have only a limited experience of how very
different the inner world of others can be, and tend far too much to
advise on the basis of what would make them happier themselves.
Husband to wife with post-natal depression, Sorry youre
down, dear. When Im like that I find a good round of golf clears
the old mind. You should take it up (Well, it might work, I
suppose. But only in a very rare case.)
The advantages that I enjoy are the reverse of these. Having seen
how very different are peoples inner worlds I am in a position
to understand yours with a good accuracy and then be able to help you
to talk over and sort out any issue that has arise. When asked I can
usually give very concrete, practical advice attuned to your
personality and situation. To get a little better idea of the range of
personal topics you could click on the windows below. They are
examples and are not intended to over all possible things.
